St. Lucia
Secrets St. Lucia · Gros Islet · May 27–31, 2027 (Recommended Dates)
This trip is different, and it's supposed to be.
The Trip
St. Lucia isn't a "stay at the resort and relax" destination the way the others are. The Pitons are right there. Sulphur Springs is there. A 50-foot rainforest waterfall is there. Secrets St. Lucia opened in 2024 and it might be the nicest property on this list — brand new rooms, oceanfront views, a speakeasy bar, a rooftop observatory — but the reason you come to St. Lucia is the island itself. You leave changed in a way that doesn't happen in Punta Cana.
It costs more. There are no direct flights from Austin to St. Lucia — every routing stops in another city first, usually Miami, Charlotte, or Atlanta. The airport transfer from UVF is 90 minutes each way. This is the trip for when the group decides the experience is the point.
The Resort
Secrets St. Lucia Resort and Spa opened in 2024 as part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection. Adults-only, full property. Nine restaurants, no reservations required. Speakeasy bar, rooftop observatory with Piton views, Hyatt Unlimited-Luxury service model.
Quoted price is the Deluxe Swim Out King — swim-out rooms opening to a shared infinity-style pool overlooking the coast. Preferred Club Plunge Pool upgrade adds ~$1,000–$1,500 per couple: semi-private oceanfront plunge pool per room, dedicated check-in, private lounge.
Date Recommendation
St. Lucia has one thing on a Friday night that no other destination on this list can offer: the Gros Islet Street Party.
Every Friday night, the fishing village of Gros Islet comes alive — street food, local music, dancing, rum punch, a crowd that's half locals and half people who were smart enough to plan around it. It's completely authentic and completely free. Secrets St. Lucia is in the Gros Islet area, so it's right there.
The standard dates (May 24–28, Sun–Thu) miss the Friday entirely. Shifting to Tuesday May 27 through Saturday May 31 puts you there for Friday May 30. For St. Lucia specifically, that shift is worth seriously considering.
What It Costs
Everything, per couple. Flights are what separate this from the other options — the resort at $3,126 is actually the second-cheapest quote on the list. No direct flights from Austin is what pushes total cost up.

The Excursions
Option 1 — Private Mud Bath & Toraille Waterfall — $110/person
Fully private tour from Secrets. Sulphur Springs mineral mud soak, rinse under a 50-foot rainforest waterfall. Five hours, personalized pacing, no other groups. Vendor confirmed direct pickup from the resort. This is the Dunn's River equivalent for St. Lucia — physical, fun, private, and back before afternoon.
Option 2 — Piton Sunset Snorkel Cruise — $110.53/person
Evening catamaran with the Pitons as backdrop. Snorkeling stop over a protected reef, open bar, appetizers. Five hours, departs ~2 PM. The relaxed wind-down version. Could pair with Option 1 for a full day: mud bath in the morning, sunset cruise in the evening.
Option 3 — Sea Spray Tango Time Private Charter — $1,250 flat (up to 10 people)
Private boat, just us. Rum punch, soft drinks, snorkeling equipment. Departs Rodney Bay Marina, back by early afternoon. At 8 people: $156/person, $312/couple. Closest equivalent to what we did at Sandals. Sea Spray confirmed this pricing June 2026.
Is This the Right Trip for BSS?
- Secrets St. Lucia is the newest and arguably most beautiful resort on the list — opened 2024, pristine condition
- The island itself is genuinely stunning — the Pitons, rainforest waterfalls, volcanic mud baths, and coral reefs are unmatched
- Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party is an authentic, free, can't-replicate-it experience (requires date shift to Tue–Sat)
- Piton Sunset Snorkel Cruise at $110/person is one of the best excursions on this list — Pitons at sunset is a moment
- Smallest tourist footprint of the four destinations — feels more like a real island than a resort strip
- Hyatt Unlimited-Luxury service model — 9 restaurants, no reservations, speakeasy bar, rooftop observatory
- No direct flights from Austin to St. Lucia — every routing stops in Miami, Charlotte, or Atlanta, adding 2–4 hours of travel time
- Flights are the most expensive of any option: $1,400–$2,000 per couple versus $800–$1,200 for the others
- 90-minute airport transfer from UVF adds significant time on both ends — arrival and departure days are long travel days
- Quoted price is the base Deluxe Swim Out tier — the plunge pool rooms (Preferred Club) cost $1,000–$1,500 more per couple
- St. Lucia rewards people who want to leave the resort — if the group wants to stay poolside, this isn't the best value
- Requires a date shift (Tue–Sat) to catch the Friday street party, which changes travel day dynamics for everyone
